Challenger Montevideo Live
The ATP Challenger Tour continues this week with the Uruguay Open being the next tournament on the docket. Let us take a look at some of the players.
Nicolas Almagro has been awarded the top seed here, who is coming last played in the Paris Masters. Having ended his season on the ATP circuit in disappointment, it is not surprising to see him play here in order to get some momentum and build his form for next season. The second seed is Diego Schwartzman, who was most recently the runner-up in the European Open. However, that was a month ago and since then, the Argentinean hasn't played in any other event. His compatriot Horacio Zeballos is the third seed, who is coming in fresh after emerging as the runner-up in Bogota Challenger. Moreover, he was also the semifinalist in the Santiago Challenger. Lastly, there is Inigo Cervantes, who was the semifinalist in Bogota. Prior to that, he played on the ATP circuit where his form was less than impressive.
One interesting thing about this tournament is that all the players are equally capable of winning here. However the two Argentinean do appear to be the favourites at the moment, but this can very likely go either way.

Coming with a $50,000 total prize money, the Uruguay Open is an annual clay court tournament held in Montevideo, Uruguay. This year's competition will be the 11th edition in tournament history.
As this event does not have a whole lot of competition as far as clay court tournaments go (the only clay court Challenger of the week), the organizers managed to lure in some quality talent. There are as many as three ATP titlists in the main draw, top seed and defending champion Pablo Cuevas, seventh seed Carlos Berlocq and eighth seed Horacio Zeballos. Cuevas and Berlocq has two-two titles, whereas Zeballos is a one-time champion although that one is rather memorable, because he won it by defeating Rafael Nadal in the final of the 2013 VTR Open in Chile. In general, the Uruguay Open has been dominated by Argentine players, going back to its first edition back in 2005. The then teenager Juan Martin del Potro defeated Boris Pasanski in the final, starting out what became an injury-riddled but still amazingly successful career (he is already a Grand Slam champion). In addition to Del Potro, Guillermo Canas, Maximo Gonzalez, the above mentioned Berlocq and Zeballos are all former Uruguayan Open champions.
Still, even though several of these players will be in the main draw, the biggest favorite is defending champion Cuevas.
