World no. 91 Gerald Melzer of Austria has been seeded first, who last played in ATP Kitzbuhel where he was the semifinalist. He also spent his time playing on the other Challenger events where he won a couple of titles. 23 year old Japanese Taro Daniel is also coming in as the second seed, who just won the Cordenons Challenger last week. He is definitely working hard, and hopefully, fatigue won't hinder his performance. The third seed has been bagged by Andrej Martin of Slovakia, who after winning the ATP Umag in July hasn't been able to reach the fourth round of any other event he played in. Similarly, Daniel Gimeno Traver too has had a rocky season up until his run in the Cordenons, where he was the runner-up. Prior to that however, his form wasn't that consistent and that may be a factor here.

Lastly, Leonardo Mayer will also be playing in the event, with the hopes of reaching the latter round for the first time this season. All in all, this seems to be a competitive pool and we are in for some quality matches.

Because of this, we don’t have a reigning champion but that doesn’t mean that the organizers weren’t able to lure in quality talent, at least at the ATP Challenger level. Top seed Daniel Munoz De La Nava is close to the top 100, currently in the 104th position. He will be the clear favorite of the tournament but there are other former top 100 players who could realistically make the business end of the week rather interesting. If we take a look at the past winners, we can see that many nations had success throughout the years. The biggest name in tournament history is Roland Garros finalist and 24-times ATP career titlist David Ferrer who went all the way back in 2002. Outside of him, we have four more ATP titlist players among the past champions, one-time career titlist Andreas Vincigerra, one-time career titlist Federico Delbonis, two-time career titlist Robin Haase and 12-time career titlist Nicolas Almagro.

Interestingly enough, Attila Savolt remains the only player in tournament history who won more than one title. The Hungarian emerged victorious in 1999 and 2001.
