Challenger Izmir Live
The city of Izmir will be hosting the Izmir Cup this week on the Challenger Circuit. Let us have a look at the profiles of some of the names highlighting the event.
Lukas Lacko has been seeded first, who is coming to his first Challenger event since May. He hasn't been that successful on the ATP circuit off lately, which is why his decision to build some traction on the Challenger is a well thought one. Marco Chiudinelli of Switzerland will also be playing in the event as the second seed. He last played in Istanbul Challenger where he reached the final four. He has been alternating between Challenger and ATP circuit, with not much success in either of them. Moving further below in the rankings, we find Mirza Basic, whose last major feat was the semifinal run in the St. Remy Challenger. He also has a record of 6-5 on the ATP circuit, which in all fairness is still better than the other players'. Kimmer Coppejans of Belgium has been seeded fourth, who last lost in the qualifying rounds of Istanbul Challenger.
Interestingly, he lost to Basic in St. Remy and will be keen on avenging his defeat here. Marius Copil, Ilya Ivashka and Aleksandr Nedovyesov will also be playing in the tournament.

The 2015 Turk Telecom Izmir Cup will be the eighth edition in tournament history, but we already know that the reigning champion won t try to defend his title. Borna Coric, the 18-year-old prodigy went all the way last year, defeating Malek Jaziri in the final 6-1, 6-7 (7), 6-4.
A hard court tournament, the Izmir Cup offered a perfect opportunity for the young Croat to hone his skills which he did in admirable fashion. Currently being the 38th player in the world, it is clear as day that Coric has moved on to bigger and better things since, but his adversary from the 2014 final will be in the main draw. The Tunisian Malek Jaziri will be the second seed of the tournament, and he already got passed his first obstacle. The total prize money of the tournament is over €64,000 this year, which is a rather hefty sum at that level. If we take a look at the past winners, we can see that the organizers did a marvelous job bringing in some solid ATP talent each year.
In fact, two of the last three winners were also ATP titlists, Dmitry Tursunov in 2012 (seven-time career titlist) and Mikhail Kukushkin in 2013 (one-time career titlist). They won’t compete this year, but three-time runner-up (2009-2011) Marsel Ilhan will, in fact he will be the top seed, surely trying to finally get over the hump.
