The 2016 Jalisco Open will be the sixth edition in tournament history. The event that's played on outdoor hard courts currently have a $100.000 total prize money, making it the second most lucrative tournament of the week.
The reigning champion is the American Rajeev Ram who has defeated his compatriot, the 26-year-old Jason Jung in last year's final. With a new player winning the event in each of the four editions so far that has followed the 2011 debut of the tournament, we can safely expect an exciting outcome this year as well. The main draw is definitely wide open. 2014 winner Gilles Muller could still join the competition, provided that he loses his second round match in Indian Wells against the Spaniard Rafael Nadal. Many of the former champions will probably be in attendance when the tournament starts on Monday, but since we don't have an official draw yet we have no idea who will actually compete.
It's a safe bet that a combination of the best Challenger players will be there, certainly those who cannot attend the Irving Open for whatever reasons. If he choses to defend his title, the biggest favorite will be world number 63 Ram.

The Jalisco Open is an annual outdoor hard court tournament held in Guadalajara, Mexico. The Challenger Tour event is still in its infancy, with this years tournament being the fourth edition of it. The total prize money will be exactly $100,000 which makes the event one of the more lucrative tournaments on the Challenger level.
The reigning champion is Gilles Muller who won’t be able to defend his title. In his absence, the biggest favorite will probably be world number 115 Adrian Menendez Maceiras who will be the top seed. The second seed will be world number 116 Alejandro Falla. The seeding will continue as follows: 3rd seed Austin Krajicek (world number 121), 4th seed Ryan Harrison (world number 126), 5th seed Michal Przysiezny (world number 142nd), 6th seed Denis Kudla (world number 150), 7th seed John-Patrick Smith (world number 155) and finally, 8th seed Rajeev Ram who is currently the 185th player in the world.
Out of those seeded players, some of them already experienced what it’s like to compete in the final, although both Kudla and Ram has lost theirs (2014 and 2013). Maybe one of them will be able to go all the way this time and capture the trophy.
