Challenger Campinas Live
Some of the rising and talent South American players will be showcasing their skills this week, in the Campinas Challenger in Brazil.
Carlos Berlocq of Argentina has bagged the top seed, who has spent most of his time on the Challenger circuit. However, he hasn't been that successful in that either. He last played in Banja Luka Challenger, where he lost in the quarterfinal. The second seed has been given to the young Brazilian Thiago Monteiro, who is coming in fresh from his runner-up feat in the Santos Challenger. He has been working really hard this year, and watching him go up against the experienced ones will certainly be an interesting. Facundo Bagnis is another Argentinean to be playing in the tournament, who is coming in with a record of 6-11. He has had a shaky spell this season and predicting his performance here is certainly a tricky thing to do. Lastly, Renzo Olivo is the last of the four seeds. He won the Santos Challenger, defeating Monteiro in the final. He was also the semifinalist in ATP Hamburg earlier this year.
Apart from this, Joao Souza and Nicolas Kicker will also be playing in Campinas. For the time being, Monteiro or Olivo look the favorites one, but it can go either way.

The Campeonato Internacional De Tenis De Campinas (or as formerly known, the Tetra Pak Tennis Cup) is held annually in Campinas, Brazil. Being an outdoor clay court tournament, the event usually lures in mostly South-American clay court specialists who are either out of form or not good enough to compete in the European indoor season.
With its €40,000 total prize money, the Campeonato is not a particularly lucrative event and this usually shows when it comes to its lineups. With that said, there are some quality players amongst the previous winners, and some of them will return this year. The biggest name out of those players is 2014 champion Diego Schwartzman who is currently the 80th player in the world but at one point he was actually a member of the top 60, so far peaking at the 57th position back in May. He will be there among the competitors this week, trying to repeat as the runaway favorite of the tournament. If Schwartzman could not go all the way for some reason, his compatriot and second seed Guido Pella could definitely find himself in that position.
Either way, considering the fact that not only all previous four winners (we’ll have the fifth edition this year) were South-Americans but actually all finalists, it would be shocking if a player from another continent could go all the way.
