The 2016 French Open and all the Clay ATP might have come and gone, but some players remain on the clay courts in the ATP Challenger Tour. Citta Di Caltanissetta is one of the more popular ATP Challenger tournaments and it is taking place this year from June 6 to June 12 in the city of Caltanissetta in Italy.

This will be the 17th edition of a tournament that has been in existence since 1999. No player has won the tournament more than once, and its current holder is Swedish Elias Ymer. The top seeds in this year's tournament are Italian Paolo Lorenzi, Argentine Facundo Bagnis, Swedish Elias Ymer, Dutch Thiemo de Bakker and Colombian Santiago Giraldo. Assuming all the top seeds avoid sudden upsets, the quarter final games should be Paolo Lorenzi vs Alejandro Gonzalez, Peda Krstin vs Elias Ymer, Thiemo de Bakker vs Daniel Gimeno Traver and Santiago Giraldo vs Facundo Bagnis. I however expect Elias Ymer to defeat top seed Paolo Lorenzi in the semifinal to set up a final meeting with second seed Facundo Bagnis.

Facundo Bagnis is capable of some very decent tennis on his day, and should he ultimately make it to the final against Elias Ymer, I expect the Argentine number 2 seed to win the tournament.

Martin Klizan will enter the tournament as the top seeded player while Dutchman Robin Haase has been given the second seed place. Klizan did win the first round at the French Open but was then ousted by Rafael Nadal in the second, after he managed to snatch a set away from the champion. Haase managed a second round place at the French Open as well after getting to the quarter-final at ATP Nice earlier. Argentines Leonardo Mayer and Guido Pella are seeded three and four respectively. Mayer’s form has taken a dip in recent times and he’s on a four-match losing streak including a first round exit at the French Open. Pella won his first round at Roland Garros before going down to Novak Djokovic in the second.
