The ATP Challenger Burnie is a professional tennis tournament which is played outdoors on hard courts. The ATP Challenger Burnie is at present a part of the ATP Challenger Tour and is a $50,000 level tournament for the Challenger Tour. Since 2003, it has been annually taking place at Burnie in Australia. The venue for this ATP Challenger Burnie is the Burnie Tennis Club.

The tournament will take place between February 2nd and February 8th. A total of 48 games will be played, where 32 will singles games and 16 will be doubles matches. Each game is a three set game where the player that gets the best of three will go through to the next round.

 

The last two titles were taken by locals John Millman and Matt Reid who is also the current champion of the ATP Challenger Burnie. Reid will be hoping to ensure that he remains the champion at the end of the week and given the immense talent of his opponents, it may not be as easy as it seems.

Tasmania shakes with the Tennis hurricanes of ATP Challenger Tour, as the Burnie International kicks off on the 27th of January for the twelfth ATP Challenger Burnie edition for men and sixth for women. The tournament is scheduled to end on the 1st of February, 2014.

The tournament is played on hard-surface outdoor courts. Prize money is $50,000 each for both men and women.

 

Both defending champions belong to homeland. Millman and Olivia Rogowska both look forward to keeping their titles safe within their country as the top seeds prepare to attack.

 

Seed no.1, Klahn of USA, will have to face not only Millman but also four other top seed players, all from the tournament’s home country. Rogowska, on the other hand, has managed to reach the top seed list; at a position of no.4, she will be up against two USA seed players, Falconi and Cohen.

 

Poland, Japan, Croatia and Netherlands have also sent in their representatives.

The organizers of the event have been calling it the McDonald’s Burnie Open, claiming McDonald to be one of the top sponsors of the event with naming rights. The online ticket bank is announced to remain open throughout the tournament.

The ATP Challenger Tour will hold a hard court tournament for $50,000 in Burnie, Australia this week. This is the only ATP Challenger Tournament to be held this week except for the futures, which include a carpet tournament in Germany, and some hard courts events for $10,000 that include F3 tournaments in France, Great Britain and Israel, and then an F2 in Mexico. There is also going to be a match played in Turkey and then another event that will be played in the Futures in the United States in the state of Florida.

This tournament is officially called the McDonalds Burnie International, named after the famed restaurant that has spread all over the world. It is going to be from January 28th to the 2nd of February, played on hard plexipave courts for $50,000 in Burnie, Australia. Yen Hsun Lu was supposed to be the number one seed for this tournament but will not be playing. The second seed is Peter Polansky. John Millman is the third and Samuel Groth is the fourth. Fifth and sixth seeds are Brydan Klein and James Duckworth, and the final two are Alessandro Giannessi and John-Patrick Smith.

The ATP Challenger Tour will be holding two tournaments this week, in the Tour that is especially for up and coming tennis players that will be the stars of tomorrow. This week's tournament is the McDonald's Burnie International, and it will be held from the 30th of January to the 5th of February, in Burnie, Australia. This is a hard court tournament that is worth $50,000 and it will be joined by the only other major Challenger event this week, the $75,000 Kazan Kremlin Cup, another hard court event that happens in Kazan, Russia.

This tournament features Bernard Tomic, a seventeen year old from Germany who has been making waves on the international tennis circuit. He played Marin Cilic in the Australian Open and amazingly was able to keep him going for five grueling sets. Tomic is just one of the rising stars that has qualified for this year's main draw in the Burnie International, and the top seed is Grega Zemlja from Slovakia who is paired up in the first round against Australian Rameez Junaid. Tomic will play New Zealander Daniel-King Turner.
