The Grand Prix Hassan II is an ATP 250 tournament that happens in Casablanca, Morocco and will be held from April 4^th to April 10^th. This is a clay court tournament that has a prize purse of € 398,250 and a total financial commitment of € 450,000. Also the ATP Casablanca Live has a singles draw of 28 and a doubles draw of 16. This tournament started in 1986 and the tournament is funded by the King of Morocco, Muhammed VI. It is one of only two tournaments that are hosted in Africa and two Moroccans have won the title since the tournament began.

 

 

The top seed for this tournament is Albert Montanes, as last year's winner Stanislas Wawrinka is not returning this year. The second seed is Marcos Baghdatis, and then our third seed is Gilles Simon with Juan Carlos Ferrero as the fourth seed. Florian Mayer and Andrey Golubev is the fifth and sixth and then seventh seed is Potito Starace and eighth is Marcel Granollers. 2009 was the 25^th anniversary for the Grand Prix Hassan II and this tournament is unique in the fact that King Mohammed VI funds the entire event. The ATP World Tour stops twice in Africa, once here and another in Johannesburg for the brand new SA Tennis Open. This tournament has only seen two native Moroccans win thus far, once in 1997, with the title taken by Hicham Arazi and then Younes El Aynaoui in 2002. The top seed for this tournament is Stanislas Wawrinka, the Swiss player taking out Roger Federer last year in another tournament played this month, The Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters.

 

 

Victor Hanescu is the second seed of the event, and the third is Guillermo Garcia Lopez. Fourth seed will be Lukasz Kubot. The defending champion is Juan Carlos Ferraro, with Gilles Simon taking the title in 2008. Paul-Henri Mathau took it home in 2007.
