Buenos Aires Live
Tennis fans in Buenos Aires are in for a treat this week, with the Argentina Open set to take place on the ATP Tour. The tournament will feature some exceptional players, making this a must follow event.
The top seed is the Japanese No. 1 Kei Nishikori, who is coming in after his fourth round defeat in the Australian Open. Prior to that, he was the runner-up in ATP Brisbane as well, which makes him the player to beat here. Next up in the line is the Spaniard David Ferrer, who hasn't been in the best of the form. He has been losing in the early rounds of all the events he has played in so far, and he'll be keen on turning that around in Buenos Aires. Similarly, Pablo Cuevas too is coming in with a disappointing spell this season. His start hasn't been that great, as he could gather only a singly win in the Australian Open series. What's quite intriguing here is the fact that his doubles partner Pablo Carreno Busta has been seeded fourth.
His record is 4-3, with his best run coming in Australian Open, where he reached the third round. This is a good opportunity for all the players to develop some momentum as the clay season kicks in.

The Argentina Open is an outdoor clay court event held annually in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This year's edition will be the 19th in tournament history and the organizers managed to put together more than half a million dollar for the occasion.
Reigning champion Rafael Nadal will compete, trying to defend his title after yet another Grand Slam fiasco. In Flushing Meadows the Spaniard lost his first round match to his compatriot and good friend Fernando Verdasco. The match went to a fifth set where Verdasco shocked the 14-time Grand Slam champion, as well as the spectators and the rest of the tennis world. In addition to Nadal, several other top competitors will attend the tournament. There will be two top 10 players outside of the 9-time Roland Garros champion, namely world number 6 David Ferrer and world number 9 Jo Wilfried Tsonga. They will comprise the top 3 seeds and will be followed by world number 12 John Isner, world number 19 Dominic Thiem, world number 24 Fabio Fognini, world number 32 Alexandr Dolgopolov and world number 36 Pablo Cuevas. Nadal is the favorite of the tournament but Tsonga, Isner, Thiem and especially Fognini will have winning chances against him if they meet.
A very balanced draw overall, unless Nadal finds his best form (or close to it), in which case no one will be able to stop him.

The Argentine Open is a very prestigious clay court ATP tournament, currently categorized as an ATP 250 event. The first championship was held more than 50 years ago, in 1956. The first winner was Pancho Gonzales, a great American player who won two Grand Slam tournaments during his career. Although David Ferrer has won the tournament in the last three years, he is not even close to being the record holder. That feat belongs to Argentina’s very own Guillermo Vilas, one of tennis’ all-time great players.
Vilas has won as many as four Grand Slams and 62 tourneys during his prestigious career. Out of those 62, seven were an Argentine Open title, in addition to two losing efforts in a final. At one of point, the “Young bull of the Pampas” has won five in row. If Ferrer would emerge victorious in a week, he would get close to tying that record, but he would still need three more to tie Vilas for the overall crown, which considering the fact that Ferrer will turn 33 during the current season, seems rather unlikely. Another huge obstacle for Ferrer will be top seed and compatriot Rafael Nadal, who holds a 22-6 head to head lead over Ferrer, including 17-2 on clay.
