The Brisbane International will begin on January 2^nd and finish up on January 9^th, and it happens in Brisbane, Australia. This is a hard court tournament that has total prize purse of $372,500 and has a singles draw of 32 and a doubles draw of 16. Last year, the champion for the singles was Andy Roddick and the doubles winners were Marc Gicquel and Jeremy Chardy. This tournament returned to the venue last year for the first tiem in fourteen years, and is a combined men's and women's tournament. The event also marked the opening of an $82 million dollar tennis center.

 

 

The top seed for this tournament is Robin Soderling, with last year's champion Andy Roddick as the second seed. Fernando Verdasco is the third seed for the Brisbane International and Mardy Fish will take the spot for the fourth seed. Then we have fifth and sixth seeds Marcos Baghdatis and Feliciano Lopez with Gilles Simon as the seventh seed and Radek Stepanek as the eighth. The Association of Tennis Professionals kicks off 2010 season with the Brisbane International, which begins on January 3^rd, 2010, and it features a singles draw of thirty two and a doubles draw of sixteen, and a total prize purse of of $372,500. The tournament takes place January 3^rd through the 10^th, and this is an ATP World Tour 250 event. Radek Stepanek is the defending champion beating Fernando Verdasco from Spain last year, with a final of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Stepanek is the second seed, and if he wins this year it will be the first time that the thirty year old has successfully defended with the first being Andy Roddick who right now is number seven in the world and looking to improve for 2010, at this particular tournament for the first time however.

 

 

Gael Monfils is the third seed and this Parisian is number thirteen in the world. He'll be looking for this third ATP World Tour title this year. Also on the roster are Tomas Berdych, Sam Querrey, Jeremy Chardy, Thomasz Bellucci and Marcos Baghdatis.
