The world no. 23 Ivo Karlovic has been seeded first, who has been quite busy over the last few tournaments. He most recently played in the ATP Newport, where he was the runner-up, having lost to Rajeev Ram. Prior to that, he played in the Wimbledon, where he lost in the fourth round to Andy Murray.

The defending champion is the Australian Bernard Tomic, who has been given the second seed. He too competed in Newport last week, where he was stunned in the first round itself by John-Patrick Smith. Before that, he reached the third round in Wimbledon, where he lost to the eventual champion Novak Djokovic.

The Frenchman Adrian Mannarino will also be playing in the tournament as the third seed, alongside with Victor Estrella Burgos, who has been given the fourth seed. Sam Groth will be also competing as the sixth seed, who has had an average season so far.

All the top four seeds have received a bye into the second round. For me, Karlovic is the favorite one and should be able to  go the distance.

Last year, Ivo Karlovic managed to sweep away the trophy. This year, the Croatian defending champion faces the biggest threat from the French titan, Gasquet.

Gonzalez and Falla from Colombia are also expected to be tough competitors. Others include Vasek Pospisil of Canada, Radek Stepanek of Czech Republic, Ebden of Australia and Burgos of Dominican Republic.

Colombia’s Struvey and Cabal, together with Australia’s Bernard Tomic have entered the tournament on wild card. Argentina’s Maximo Gonzalez and Russia’s Dimitry Tursunov withdrew before the tournament lists were finalized.

The 2013 doubles were dominated by the Indians, as Raja and Sharan lifted the trophy. This year, Canada, USA, Britain and Australia step in an attempt to win the title for themselves.

The championship has been scheduled in Centro de Alto Rendimiento, a court of hard surface that has also had the privilege of hosting the ATP tour of 1997-2002.

The list of players who have enrolled in the championship squad has been released on the net and news channels. ATP tour has attracted a number of players who have had memorable former records associated with its name.

At the top of the list glitters the name of Janko Tipsarevic, currently ranking at the number fourteenth, and the holder of the ATP tour trophy no less than four times.

The major stir in Bogota, however, has been created by the ace player of Columbia, Santiago Giraldo, so the sources report. Kevin Anderson represents the Republic of South Africa, while France sends in Mannarino and Vasselin. Malisse (BEL), Bedene (SLO) and Sijsling (NED) are also participating in the tournament.

With a prize money as high as $638, 085 and a competition that is by no means lenient, the experts expect this Bogota tour to be as successful as the previous ones.
