The ATP Tour now shifts to Europe after an exciting adventure in Asia. European Open will be played this week in the city of Antwerp this week, and let us look at some of the contenders for the title.
Top seed has been given to the Belgian David Goffin, who had a great time in the Shanghai Rolex Masters. The Belgian made it as far as the semifinal, before succumbing to Andy Murray in straight sets. Despite a record of 42-20, he still lacks a title. He was also the semifinalist in Moselle Open runner-up in ATP Tokyo. Second seed is the Spaniard David Ferrer, who incurred a shock defeat in the first round in Shanghai, against Feliciano Lopez. However, he has been more or less consistent this season, given that he reached the latter rounds in China Open and Swedish Open. Richard Gasquet is the third seed, who like his Spanish adversary, lost in the first round of Shanghai Masters. However, he did the reach the final of Shenzhen Open, before losing to Tomas Berdych there in three sets. Lastly, Pablo Cuevas is the fourth seed, who is coming in with a record of 32-20.
His form off lately hasn't been that consistent, though. All the four seeds have been given a bye in the first round. The things here are sure to be intense.
